Steph & Ayesha Curry Pledge Meal Donations For Children

Basketball star Steph Curry and wife Ayesha released a video asking fans to join in support for the kids of the Oakland Unified School District who rely on receiving meals from their schools. The district is closing for an unknown period of time due to coronavirus spread, and those kids may be at risk of missing meals.

The goal, according to the donation page, is to reach 1 million meals for these students.

“We’re trying to do our part,” Steph said. “Hopefully you can join the fight with us, have each others’ backs as we go through this uncertain time in our community.”

Curry became the most recent NBA star to step up philanthropically in the face of COVID-19: Kevin Love, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Zion Williamson all pledged to support arena workers for their hometown teams who will be missing out on work because of the NBA’s suspension.

“We’re working with the Alameda Food Bank and Oakland Unified School District to make sure that kids are getting their meals,” said Ayesha.

They are asking for people to join them by making a contribution.
